The girls soccer team is on a stellar roll so far, winning eight out of their 11 games, tying one and losing the other two. When asked about how their season was going, senior captain Anjali Cherian stated, “The season has been going well, we had tough games in the preseason to get us ready for our league play, and we are currently undefeated in league.” With no shortage of talent, the girls soccer team is now second in state while being first in the Three River League.
This year’s team contains a multitude of players all containing a different skill set. Cherian continued, “The team’s strongest suit is our ability to keep possessions and our goal scoring.” Fellow senior captain Ella Oliva added on, “Every player put on that field is able to dribble the ball well and distribute a play leading us into the final third.”
So far in this season, the biggest competition for the girls seems to be either West Linn or Jesuit. Olivia spoke on this saying, “Our biggest competition is Jesuit, we got spanked by them early on in the season because we weren’t able to connect and play together. I think if we get another chance at them we will be much better and it will be a fair game.”
With three games left in the season, Oliva states,”I see our team winning the Three River league and making it past quarterfinals, hopefully making it further than we have in the past four years I have been here.” Senior Night is this Thursday Oct. 19, come out to show your support for the girls and their soon to be undefeated league season.
