Fall is upon us and soccer season is in full swing. Starting off the season strong, the boys varsity soccer team boasts an impressive record of 9-2-1, with their last game being an impressive 2-1 win against Tigard. Goals from that game came from senior Max Reckerman and junior Jack Berner. The team is led by senior captains Max Reckerman and Luca Ridgewell, and seems well-equipped with the potential to go deep in this year’s playoffs.
“So far the season has gone very well,” said junior Bryson Quintero. “We have started off with five wins and only two losses.”
Team connection has also been key, in the team’s success Quintero continued, “at the midway point of the season I would say our team has reached a high point in chemistry on and off the field.”
“We hope to make the playoffs and even earn home field advantage at the end of the regular season, maybe even bring home a state title.” The team has been exceptionally strong in non-conference play so far, and the support has been great from the student body. “As a player, seeing more people in the crowd cheering boosts me to want to play better, and makes the atmosphere more alive,” said Quintero.
“My teammates and I would love it if even more of the Laker Army were able to show up to the games.”
Keep up the great support Lakers, and try to catch a soccer game when you can, as the boys begin their climb to the playoffs.
