It’s that time of year again as college basketball season lies ahead of us. The official start date for the season is set for Nov. 6 which includes home opener games for many exciting teams like Connecticut, Duke and USC. The AP preseason poll was also recently released, with Kansas in the top spot along with Duke and Purdue to round out the top three. All remains irrelevant though, until the games begin.
Something very intriguing to most fans this season is the amount of raw talent in the freshman class. Names like Isaiah Collier, Stephon Castle and Caleb Foster headline this class as they look like they’re going to make a big impact on this season. Teams that are going to do well this year are most likely going to have a mix of these talented underclassmen as well as a group of experienced returners, which could be a very deadly combination come the NCAA Tournament in March.
As far as teams to look out for, there are many that would be good to be aware of. Obviously, the UConn Huskies come to mind as they saw the confetti fall down last year. The team is led by coach Dan Hurley and star center Donovan Clingan as they hope to repeat what they did last year. Another team that comes to mind is Kansas, who hopes to have a bounce back year, falling last year in the second round to Arkansas. This rebranded and hungry Jayhawks team will be led by transfer Hunter Dickinson and retuner K.J Adams to create a huge front-court. On the more underrated side, the North Carolina Tar Heels have an exciting roster this year that includes Elliot Cadeau, R.J Davis and Armando Bacot as they also look to bounce back and have a successful season.
There is tons to look forward to as the crazy action of college basketball has kicked off and teams begin their push to the NCAA Tournament.
