Lockdown! Locks, Lights, Out of Sight

On Nov. 5, between 2:30 and 3 p.m., LOHS was placed under a schoolwide lockdown, where students and faculty spent half an hour in the dark. Here’s what went down during that half hour of uncertainty.
Assistant principal Ryan Rosenau explained, “Meadow Lemon, our campus security officer, saw the individual that was armed in our hallways and then notified Rollin [Dickinson].”
The administration determined that the individual never checked in through the Raptor system in the security vestibule and subsequently initiated the lockdown. Central office sent cautionary emails to parents and neighboring schools while Dickinson updated LOHS staff. Meanwhile, LOPD officers secured the building.
The lockdown concluded when the man was identified as a Portland police officer. Rosenau said, “I believe he was in our security vestibule and students came out of there to grab lunch, and he went in after [they exited].”
