College basketball season off to an exciting start
For sports fans, this is the greatest time of the year. Both college football and the NFL are peaking and the NBA season is in full swing, and finally, college basketball has begun.
The real start of college basketball is whenever the Champions Classic happens. This year, that fell on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The Champions Classic is a two game invitational that showcases the best teams in the country. Every year, Kansas, Michigan State, Duke and Kentucky play one of the other four. This year, No. 3 ranked Kansas faced off against No. 4 Duke. Duke took down Kansas in a fantastic basketball game that ended with a 68-66 victory for Duke. Right after that 2nd ranked Kentucky took down No. 1 ranked Michigan State 69-62. It was a great way to start the 2019-2020 season.
The blue bloods of college basketball seem like they will be on top again this year. North Carolina has a player of the year candidate in freshman Cole Anthony, who is averaging 27 points through the first two games. Duke and Kansas have returning point guards in Tre Jones and Devon Dotson respectively. Kentucky, who after they beat Michigan State moved up to number one in the rankings, were stunned by unranked Evansville 64-67.
Should be an exciting season to watch!
