Alex Aghdaei

President – Sophomore Class

Alex Aghdaei (He/Him)

  • Why should a student, who has potentially never met or interacted with you, vote for you?

I believe a major aspect of my campaign and my merit as a candidate lies in potential for change. I strongly believe in avoiding becoming complacent in the way we run things currently, and have (and will continue) to improve and change the way LOHS is as whole for better if elected. Having a president like me who is devoted to looking forward and doing what needs to be done tomorrow right now will be especially beneficial to the school, and especially my class which has much more time to be spent in it.

  • What sets you apart from the other candidates?

My past experience, both in and out of LO. I was born outside of the US and only moved to LO around three years ago, which allows me to take a very different perspective and compare the way we do things to other parts of the world. I believe the ability to look at things in a way many others might are not familiar with is partly unique to me and vital to my ability to lead.

  • How would students know that you’re willing to put in the work for our school?

I would mention my past experience as President, editor in chief of the LOJ yearbook and look at the accomplishments there directly. My work ethic was tested in both these roles, and both times I found myself working hard out of class to meet deadlines and expectations. I would ask students to appreciate the behind the scenes work that I and many others have done in leadership this year to have such a great year before and after the school closure

  • What are your greatest weaknesses regarding your position/leadership? How will you work to combat that? What are your greatest strengths regarding your position/leadership? How will you use that to your advantage?

I believe my main weakness lies in creative assignments, like making posters or social media posts. I simply don’t have the artistic ability or creative mindset that others do. However, my strength in this position lies in teamwork and ability to work with others. I can identify when something is not my strong suit and can work well with others. In this way, I feel I can help create more of a team environment where things can completed as efficiently as possible, especially the things I might struggle with on my own

  • Is there anything else you would like to say to students reading this?

Make sure you consider all candidates properly and get out and vote!

  • Why should a student, who has potentially never met or interacted with you, vote for you?

They should vote for me because I would give everyone a say in what we do, rather than plan something and hope everyone likes it.

  • What sets you apart from the other candidates?

I have planned many events in the past, quite a few online, so I am prepared for anything the next year throws at us.

  • How would students know that you’re willing to put in the work for our school?

I am always willing to put in 110%. I think it gets lost sometimes when I mess around with certain things, but if something is important to me I will do it to the best of my ability.

  • What are your greatest weaknesses regarding your position/leadership? How will you work to combat that? What are your greatest strengths regarding your position/leadership? How will you use that to your advantage?

I would say my greatest weakness is that I am a little impatient, but if I ever need to take a break, I always circle back to what I was doing. My greatest strength is that I work well in groups, and have a strong work ethic.
