With their season starting against possibly their toughest opponents of the year, the Lakers Boys Basketball team affirmed themselves as possible winner for Three Rivers League, hoping to compete for a state championship. On Dec. 10 and 11, LO played two games in the Hoophall West HS Invitational in Scottsdale, AZ. The first day, the Lakers played Pace Academy, a top team in the nation located in Georgia. Although the Lakers didn’t win, they still kept close in a 53-64 loss. The next day, they played St. Edwards from Ohio, another highly ranked team. Once again, they fought hard against a high quality team, losing 38-56. Their upcoming schedule doesn’t get any easier, playing in the talent-filled Les Schwab Invitational. The tournament will take place Dec. 27 thru Dec. 30 at Liberty High School. LO will play Gonzaga Prep in their first game, with the other three games still undetermined. Facing a challenging schedule, this is a great opportunity for LO to make a statement.
