The DMV has announced that the Oregon driving permit test and driver’s license knowledge test is officially now offered online; the only necessary test materials are computers, webcams and keyboards. The online test offers the Class C knowledge test, which allows someone to drive a vehicle, and the motorcycle permit. More importantly, it allows aspiring drivers to take the 35-question test outside of the DMV. While there is no location restriction, the DMV requires that test-takers younger than 18 be supervised by someone older than 21. However, the supervisor does not need to be a parent or guardian. Another important aspect of the online test is the test limit, as students can only take the online test four times before needing to go in person.
Beyond these guidelines, the Oregon DMV strives to make the online test an easy and convenient option for driving students. They have partnered with reputable experts in online testing, which are already used in other parts of the country. Currently, the test is only offered in English and Spanish, but they plan to add more languages for the Class C online test. In the future, the online test will be accessible to more aspiring drivers, allowing them to test in any location.
