Drake grooms young girls
So what has Drake been doing wrong this time?
Last year, actress Millie Bobby Brown told reporters that she was friends with the 33-year-old rapper Drake. Less than a year after the intense ridicule, Drake has now befriended 17-year-old singer/songwriter, Billie Eilish.
What are the implications of a 33-year-old talking to and befriending a 15 or 17-year-old? It’s kind of odd – in a creepy-adult-befriending-children way – especially if you factor in Drake’s fame and wealth. He’s famous, and he can get away with a lot more because of his money.
Brown has said that they text, “about boys, he helps me. He’s great, he’s wonderful, I love him.”
Eilish said something similar, “…he does not need to be nice. You know what I mean? He’s at a level of his life where he doesn’t need to be nice, but he is. You know?”
Does this count as grooming?
One website defines grooming as “when someone builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them.”
Would we hold someone who isn’t this famous to a different standard? I, and hopefully others, would question a regular adult man if he was talking to multiple under-aged women.
There is a possibility that these are just innocent friendships, but it is important to stay on high alert for these things. Grooming is a serious problem, and especially when someone with power and wealth is the perpetrator.
