When you ask someone what their favorite month of the year is, you would usually expect an answer like June or July. It is summer time, the weather is nice and school is out. You may even get a few Decembers because of Christmas and winter cheer. You don’t however get March as the answer very often.
Although March may not be everyone’s favorite month, there is a lot about it that is underappreciated. For most students, a much needed spring break from the daily grind of school happens in March which provides the perfect time to travel to someplace warmer. You can’t name a better feeling than relaxing on the beach with the ocean in the distance and the warm breeze hitting your face. Not to mention all of the memories with families and friends that happen on vacation.
Besides some fun in the sun and a much needed break for students, March does have more to offer. For sports fans, when you hear the word March you think of one thing only: March Madness. March Madness refers to the NCAA Tournament that takes place every year for college basketball. It is arguably the most exciting tournament in sports and includes the 68 best teams from the regular season. Thousands of fans fill out brackets and join leagues in hopes of predicting as many games right as possible and winning prizes. If you’re lucky and your spring break falls on the week during the first round of the tournament, you can even watch and enjoy the games from the comfort of your home or wherever you’re vacationing.
Even if you don’t think March is the greatest time of year, it does have more to offer than one would think. Whether you’re enjoying the warmer weather, filling out a bracket or vacationing somewhere tropical, take some time out of your day to appreciate the month.
