It’s the end of the spring sports season, and not surprisingly, the Lake Oswego Boys Golf Team had another successful year.
Junior Drew Woolworth, the captain of the team and widely considered one of the, if not the best, high school golfers in Oregon won his third straight Three Rivers League (TRL) individual title. This is extremely impressive and is adding to Woolworth’s accolades as someone who is committed to the University of Georgia. Now, Woolworth and the team have their sights set on a team title which they last won in 2023. Last year, the team fell short to Jesuit and earned second place, but this season they are looking to go all the way once again. The team consists of Woolworth, senior Colin Konkol, junior Nate Cheriel, sophomore Nathan Pai and junior Jimmy Keyser.
Throughout the regular season, the team won almost every tournament, only dropping one to Jesuit. With everyone at the top of their game, things were looking good heading into the postseason tournament. Konkol is a new addition to the team this year and has found his stride quite nicely. He, along with other strong players on the team like Keyser, have been extremely solid. The playoffs took place on May 19 to May 20 at OGA golf club in Woodburn, Oregon. After the first day, the Lakers were tied with the Jesuit Crusaders at a team score of 307 strokes. Woolworth also shot a 67, which gave him the lead going into day two. On day two, it was neck and neck again between the Crusaders and Lakers. Contrary to last year, the Lakers came out on top with an impressive performance, winning the 2024 to 2025 season State championship. Woolworth took home the individual championship for the second straight season with a dominating eight stroke gap over second place. It was an amazing season for Lakers Boys Golf, and they are starting to establish themselves as one of the best teams in their respective sport at Lake Oswego High School.
