As the LOHS class of 2025 move on to their next chapter in life, many have chosen that next chapter to take place at the University of Oregon (U of O.) While every Oregon school is popular almost every year, there are more students than usual headed down to Eugene to continue their education. What is it about U of O that is so alluring to graduating Lakers?
Senior Roark Smith said he is “super excited for football games and the community.” After a successful 2024 football season and making it to the national championships, the atmosphere at Autzen Stadium in 2025 is sure to be electric. Additionally, as a new member of the Big 10 conference, the Ducks will be playing against tough competition like the University of Michigan and the University of Washington, which will make for an entertaining and exciting season.
For senior Shea Bamford, the appeal of U of O stemmed from the wide variety of opportunities there. “I was drawn to the University of Oregon because it seemed like a really well-rounded place. I felt like I could explore multiple outlets and still get a really quality experience,” she said. She also mentioned her excitement to “participate in music ensembles and maybe Greek Life.”
Another aspect of the University of Oregon which contributed to its popularity this year is its location. Senior Mara Lincoln is relieved that the U of O campus is close to home; she also commented on the beauty of the campus.
It’s not hard to see why U of O is such a popular destination for 2025 graduates, and we look forward to seeing all these students succeed next year.
