Up until a few weeks ago, we all knew senior Charlie Candall as the man who brought pep rallies back to LOHS, an active member of ASB and a beloved friend to all. As of May 1, we can now add 2025 Mayfete King to that list. After an initial round of voting by his senior peers who put Crandall on the Mayfete court, the collective student body voted for Crandall to win it all this year.
Crandall admitted that before this year, he had never been to a Mayfete assembly. Although, after a year of acting as the ASB Spirit Director, Crandall learned to love LOHS assemblies and felt “so stoked and honored to be voted as king.”
Crandall has worked hard this school year to boost school spirit, and he said, “I go into every day and just try to spread joy. Even if I’m not feeling happy I want someone else to feel happy.”
Crandall will recall his time on the Mayfete court fondly and said that his favorite part of the experience was learning the dance. “I got to learn the dance with my beautiful girlfriend, [senior] Joni Delman, which was an amazing thing to get to do together.” He also was glad he was able to get to know all the other members of the court better through learning the dance.
Next year, our Mayfete King plans to attend Portland Community College before transferring to Portland State University to study social work.
It’s not hard to see why Crandall was voted to win the Mayfete crown this year. His contributions to the LOHS community over the past few years are undeniable. “I just want to give a huge thank you to the students of Lake Oswego for voting me as the Mayfete King,” said Crandall, reflecting on his win. “It was a moment I won’t forget for some time. Shoutout to my mom, Amy Crandall.”
