Since the late 1800s, people have celebrated Halloween by throwing a party, eating candy and going trick-or-treating. This year, one of the high school grading days falls on Halloween day, giving students the perfect three-day Halloweekend. Many students have different ideas for how they plan to spend their time.
Freshman Jake Holmes said he plans on “going to a Halloween party, which will be lots of fun of course. I am also going to eat lots of candy (specifically Reese’s and Snickers), and I’m going to watch some horror movies.” Holmes planned out the movies he wants to watch: “I want to watch a new one that came out this year, the OG Scream and then something really scary for the third one.”
Parties and hang outs are how many students choose to spend their time on Halloween. Sophomore Henry Byrne said, “Usually for Halloween I have a couple friends over. We binge out on chips, candy and pizza and watch weird old Halloween movies. We also like to scare all the trick-or-treaters who come through the door.”
Trick-or-treating is another common way for LOHS students to spend their Halloween night. Junior Cadence Walker said, “I think I am probably going to take my little brother trick-or-treating.”
Lastly, senior Natalie Hills mentioned how she plans on “going over to my friend Carys’s house on Halloween,” In addition to that, on the weekend Hills plans “to find something super spectacular to do with my friends.”
From movies and treats to parties and friends, there’s no doubt that LOHS students have great ideas for how they’re going to spend their Halloween weekend.
