The Lake Oswego boys lacrosse team is off to a great start this year. Last year didn’t go as the team had hoped, as they had a losing record. But this year brings new hope to the Lakers lacrosse team. The Varsity team started this year strong with a win in the first game of the year. They have a winning record so far this season with seven games won and three games lost. They opened their season with a dominant 19-2 win against Tigard, showing how much they improved since last year, when they opened with a 2-19 loss. Following their first game of the 2026 season, the team won against Bishop Blanchet High School, lost against Issaquah High School, and then won three straight games against Lincoln High School, Newberg High School, and Central Catholic. They then suffered two losses but came back with two wins right after. Since last year, they have been hard at work, and it looks like it definitely is paying off. They have their big rivalry game against Lakeridge High School on May 5. Last year, their game against Lakeridge ended in a tough loss, so many people are looking forward to a rematch. But why are we so much better so far this year? Well, one member of the team, Junior Wren Sundstrom, said that they have a “great team aspect.” This seems like it has impacted them immensely so far this season because they are more motivated to work harder in practice and fight for one another. They have five more regular-season games left in the year, so they have the potential to end with a twelve and three season, which is a huge improvement since their 2025 season. Keep an eye out for their upcoming games.
