LOHS NHS provides free tutoring for freshmen

To start off the new year, the LOHS National Honors Society is providing free tutoring services to high school freshmen. Tutoring sessions will only be available on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.  In the past, the National Honors Society provided tutoring for middle school students; however, during such difficult times of isolation, they have expanded their services to freshmen, and possibly to other high school students later.

In order to attain a little extra help from the LOHS upperclassmen, students will need to join the NHS google classroom with a zoom link, the code to the classroom is LTKPLJD. Students will be placed in breakout rooms with an upperclassmen for a 1-on-1 or 1-on-2 tutoring session. NHS is providing around 10 upperclassmen tutors, this allows for a wide variety of help, from languages to math to social studies. Although the meetings are meant to academically assist students, it is a great opportunity to meet the upperclassmen and socialize with other students.

Senior and president of NHS, Nate Foster encourages students to seek help, “All of us are having a hard time with online school, so it’s okay to say you need help– we’re all in this together.”
